Story Plotting

The catch-all page for plot inquiries, NPC threads, investigations, player plots, plot suggestions, and everything else under that banner. Frequency of replies to NPC thread requests will be subject to mod availability, but we will do our best.

INVESTIGATIONS

This is where you come to seek out conversations with NPCs, have your character investigate the setting, or otherwise declare that your character is doing something we should know about. We are open to doing unsolicited NPC call-out threads but reserve the right to cut them short/handwave if they don't seem to be going anywhere or to limit their scope if we are overburdened. NPCs are not always guaranteed to be up for prolonged conversation, but you can try. To attempt to contact an NPC please put their name in the subject line. For conversations of general plot importance, we may ask you to make an closed log.

For investigations, you can freely use this page to have your character seek out information about the characters, setting, or plot. We do ask that you keep investigations to 1-3 inquiries at most, and to have those inquiries be somewhat related. If you want to investigate things that are completely unrelated, please put them in a separate comment. Additionally, please be specific about the approach your character is taking to find out information; their method will greatly impact how well it goes for them.

PLAYER PLOTS

Aion Teleos is designed to be open to player plots, and would be glad to accomodate them! Let us know in a comment below that you/your character is doing and how you'd like to approach it as a player run event. Please put the words "Player Plot" in the subject line.

PLOT SUGGESTIONS

If you don't specifically want to run a plot yourself but have some vague ideas of an event type you think would scratch an itch for the game, please let us know. We don't guarantee we'll use these ideas, but we will keep them in mind when designing future events.

That much is clear. It didn't, and still doesn't, understand their resistance to the concept. Were Himeka and Abel not experiencing the very thing they claimed was worth suffering as a part of life.

I warned them of this... of what they would suffer... and they chose to face it regardless... to pain all those that loved them... to turn the wheel of grief and hatred and conflict...

There is no escape from it... not while living as you do... I have tried... tried all other ways...

Yuya's expression twists a little with bemusement.

"I don't know if I have a good answer... it's probably been a long time since you lived in the world like we do--right? When you're alive and really get to feel the way someone loves you, or running around with your friends, or how warm the sun is... you can't experience any of that without being part of the world. Even if it's really hard sometimes, how much it can hurt.

Maybe that's just... what it's like being mortal? We're small and a really complicated. And stubborn."

Ryunosuke has at least a dozen burning questions at this point, but he continues to hold his tongue on those for now. Yuya is doing a much, much better job of speaking to the entity than he's ever managed to do. Better to follow his lead.

He's curious to see how she reacts to all that super profound stuff Yuya just said, anyway.

This could be yours... the love... the warmth... yours without the pain of being in this world...

Its whispers become quieter, more distant.

I have seen through mortal eyes long enough.

It isn't really the same but... he has a feeling she knows that, deep down.

"Sorry," it's a little mumbled. "But I still want to live in the world... and protect it. And maybe, I can do something good for it too. I think Estinien is the same way. And that's the choice we need to be able to make.

But still... I'd like to know you. Who you are, or... what you have to say."

What it has to say? There is a lingering silence, as if the being is contemplating an answer.

If the wheel of suffering and loss cannot be broken, the cosmos will scream its last... long has the Regent traveled to this end, but the conclusion of their journey is nigh... there is no time... no time to struggle for solutions... for change that has come and gone time and time again...

There's was a sternness to those words, though they shift towards a tone of mourning.

The last era... the last Aions... the last vestiges lost... I bought what time I could... there is no more to give...

A cold fist of dread gripping his heart, Ryunosuke can't keep his silence any longer.

"The... The conclusion--? Wait-- What... H-how do you know all of this?"

Tensed as he is, his claws dig painfully into the flesh of his leg, and yet he scarcely even notices as he continues, the enormity of the entity's words washing over him. He takes a breath to try and steady himself before starting over.

"...When we first arrived, we could both feel your... Your restlessness. Please... I know you've suffered great loss; I felt it in you, the last we spoke... You've been fighting for a time far greater than anything I can possibly comprehend... But us, the recent Pleroma-- we've barely begun to fight...! And we've spirit left to spare! So, so will you not share some of your burden with us?"

We learned... of the Regent's plans... their destination...

Its whisper trails into ponderous silence.

... My burden is not yours... the Aions of this age refuse my aid... the only way i know forward... and so...

Perhaps I may have... one last indulgence... in this dying world...

Well that's a rock and a hard place: everything sundered out everything turned into a single conscious rock. What is death going to look like in either case?

"... We won't waste what time you've bought." It seems... wrong to ask her for more, like this. When it seems like she's been strained to her limit more than they realized. It's up to them to save world as it is without needing to glass it.

But an indulgence, huh? "What is it?"

To repel the darkness... as I did before... heedless that it would return...

Its whispers become even softer, as if it is settling into its resolve, far past the point of words.

Innocent...

What... Does that mean? Does she intend to fight...?

That tone of voice(s) she's taking feels all too familiar, though. And that's panic inducing, because she's just admitted that she has answers. Answers the Pleroma need.

"Wait, please! If you know of the Regent's plans, can't you share them with us? We... We need answers, and you may be the only one who can provide them...! If you're the only one who can lead us to the truth... I implore you..."

He's not ready to let this conversation end just yet. Not like this.

Again, their words become more strained, as if many overlapping thoughts cause it to struggle to supply a meaningful answer. The concept it means to explain has become abstract, even to it.

They need only your misery... entropy overwhelms...

Hope fades... happiness fades... scars remain... emptiness remains...

Yuya reaches to grab Ryunosuke's arm, initially to calm him down. But Yuya finds a need to brace himself as well.

"It's like in Venera. When they lost the will to fight back. The Regent is stronger if we don't have hope..."

He thinks he gets it. That she interfered to prevent their pain from fueling the Regent's goal.

"--We won't forget that! We won't forget to have hope, and we won't forget that there is still happiness around us even like this! So... it's okay. We'll do everything we can with the time you've bought us. We'll make a difference this time. For everyone."

And he says that with full conviction. There's always some light to be found in the darkness.

Ryunosuke gives a little jolt of surprise when Yuya grabs him, but that’s nothing compared to the shock of what the Entity says next.

He almost doesn’t make the connection, of what it’s trying to say, until Yuya clarifies, and then it sends a spike of dread through him. But what else can he say that Yuya hasn’t voiced already? They’re of one mind on this, more or less. At least, Ryu wants to believe in Yuya’s optimism...

"We... We'll do everything we can," he says seriously. "Thank you... We won't forget this!"
